The Salle des Plaques : a space dedicated to contemporary creation

The Musée Départemental Albert-Kahn welcomes artists or groups for a creative residency in order to explore the notions of archives and the recording of reality, to offer the museum's various audiences a contemporary look at the museum's image collections, and to show the topicality of the questions they raise.

The Plate Room is the place where, at the end of the 1920s, autochrome plates were classified and stored. In accordance with this function, this space is now dedicated to contemporary artistic reflection on the notions of archives and the recording of reality.

The Plates Room hosts two annual events:

  • the promotion of a territorial cultural action project
  • a creative residency leading to the presentation of a contemporary creation in this space.
